GIRLS Aloud today confirmed they are finally making a pop comeback.

The group - who celebrate their 10th anniversary next month - have posted a countdown clock on their official website, marking nine days on Friday October 19.

And star Cheryl Cole could barely contain her excitement, taking to Twitter to announce: “Today is a very good day to be a Girls Aloud Fan! #GirlsAloudAreBack”.

Stacey Dash defends pro-Romney stance

We know that not all of Hollywood skews left, but actress Stacey Dash has had to run defense after publicly supporting Republican candidate Mitt Romney on Sunday.

Along with sharing quite the patriotic photo, Dash encouraged her followers to "Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future," and has since been deluged with opposing commentary that's even caught the eye of Sandra Fluke, who came to Dash's defense.

"So disappointed to see people attacking @REALStaceyDash for voicing her opinion. Disagree politically, but #racist attacks are unacceptable," Fluke, the Georgetown University law school student who was caught in political crossfire earlier this year, tweeted Monday.

Following her tweet, Dash received replies such as, "B**** we know the only reason you tweeted that Romney s**t was so you can taste what it feels like to be relevant," and, "just like that @REALStaceyDash is excommunicated from the Black Community ... stupidity at its finest."

Another user questioned, "all racial issues aside," how the actress could support Romney as a woman.

Dash, who mainly responded to the criticism with lots of "lol's," explained that while she did vote for President Obama in 2008, "I don't vote because of race or skin color. ... at that time he was the best candidate, It's different this time."

"My humble opinion...," she added. "EVERYONE is entitled to one."

DENISE VAN OUTEN has told how she danced through her heartache last night – after missing her grandad’s funeral to perform on Strictly.

The former West End star had to pull out of training sessions and a publicity day last week when Steven Matthews, 89, died in hospital.

But she opted not to bail out of her first performance with James Jordan, insisting: “It is what he would have wanted.”

Tearful Denise said: “Last week was really hard. The funeral was yesterday and unfortunately I couldn’t go because of the show. But I dedicated my first dance to my grandad. He would have understood.

“I saw him just before I went on the show so he knew I was doing it. I’m sure he is looking down on me and would be proud.”

Last night Denise performed an elegant waltz with James to With You I’m Born Again, the Billy Preston and Syreeta hit.

And the routine went with barely a hitch – despite James nursing a broken nose after his wife and normal dance partner Ola accidentally kicked him in the face.

A show source said: “Denise really wanted to dance in honour of her grandad and James was determined not to let her down.”

And Gwen Stefani certainly cut a youthful figure as she celebrated her 43rd birthday on Wednesday night with her family.

The No Doubt star went to the Via Alloro Restaurant in Beverly Hills and looked great wearing a black jumpsuit and platform shoes.

But the pretty blonde clearly took the invitation to the Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007 premiere as the dress code and covered up her famous curves on Wednesday night.

The 20-year-old opted for a conservative white blouse, black pencil skirt and black pumps for the Manhattan screening of the James Bond documentary.

And Heidi Montag has decided to cash in on her dwindling reality fame by headlining the three-year anniversary party for Las Vegas strip club Crazy Horse III on October 19 to the tune of $25,000.
